e-SENS at BOMOS2i workshop

Designing a long-term governance structure for the e-SENS building blocks is an ambition of e-SENS in terms of ensuring sustainability of its IT components. In this regard the BOMOS methodology – a Dutch approach for managing and maintaining Open eGovernment Standards – is used as guidance for the design of a governance model.  The BOMOS framework was adjusted to suit the requirements given to governing technical building blocks across Europe and address the needs of e-SENS sustainability analysis.

A BOMOS2i workshop, organised by the European Commission’s ISA Programme (http://ec.europa.eu/isa/) and Logius, a Dutch ministerial department assisting government organisations in building e-government services, took place in Brussels on 23rd June 2015.

During the workshop, e-SENS represented by Bertrand Grégoire (LIST, LU), shared lessons learnt when applying the BOMOS2i (Assessment of the maintenance and management of specification) guide for the review of management processes for open government IT standards. “We aim this governance structure to still be useful ten years from now”, Bertrand Grégoire says. The BOMOS 2i will be valuable input to achieve this goal.
